Capt'n’s Log: MARCH - When the Runoff Turned Wild

March didn’t just keep us busy, it threw everything at us. Rising waters, quick turnarounds, shifting locations… and somehow, the rods still bent. Here’s what went down.
Runoff Chaos (The good kind)
If there’s one word for Jayson’s March—it’s HECTIC.
The runoff has been firing, but not without its challenges.
One standout moment? Navigating the Mary River Bridge with clients while floodwaters were rising fast! Getting everyone across just before it was officially closed.
Tight timing, steady nerves, and straight back into fishing mode.
The poor old fellas from down south Jays had onboard didn’t know what had hit them!
From there, it was non-stop:
Two full days out at Shady Camp with some great fish on the board for Ted, Steve & crew
Straight into The Humpty Doon for an unexpected sleep over then Dundee for another session
Then relocating the next group of clients to Dundee due to changing conditions
No gaps, no slowing down, just adapting on the go and making it happen for every crew that stepped on board.
Legends of the Month

When plans shift quickly, having the right people around you makes all the difference.
A huge shoutout to Emma Cartwright at Anglers Choice for stepping in at short notice and helping relocate our clients without a hitch.
Alongside her, fellow guide Tom Heatherington jumped in to lend a hand—absolute legends.
Emma, you run a seriously great show. We appreciate you!
Kate on the move
While the Top End was in full runoff mode, Kate was clocking up the kilometres down south!
March looked a little like this:
G Flip concert in Melbourne
Girls’ weekend in Anglesea
Family time back in Birchip and Wyche
A bit of downtime in Wenty
Somewhere in between all of that? She’s been deep in recruitment mode, bringing on the next team member for Ladies with Tradies—exciting things in the works behind the scenes!
Adapting & Delivering
If March proved anything, it’s that runoff season doesn’t wait, and neither do we.
Changing locations, shifting plans, working around the weather… it’s all part of the game this time of year.
But no matter what’s thrown our way, the focus stays the same: getting our clients on the water and giving them the experience they came for.
April’s here and we’re ready for what’s next. Hopefully a little more consistency… but we’ll take whatever the runoff gives us!
Remember - we have a Mothership available in May - ask us how to get your crew onboard!
