If there's one thing about living in the Top End, it's that no two weeks are ever the same. July has been a month full of adventures, plenty of hard work, a few home improvement projects, and making the most of everything the Territory has to offer.
While we've been busy behind the scenes, we've also managed to squeeze in some memorable moments that remind us why we love calling this place home.
Celebrating Another Lap Around the Sun
July kicked off with a special occasion! Kate's birthday! Instead of a quiet celebration, they packed their bags and headed out to Douglas Daly with their good mates Matt & Kate for a few days away.
An impromptu pig hunting trip ensued - Kate’s first time and Lucy their staghound came out of retirement for a run unplanned. It was hectic!
There's something special about escaping the everyday routine and spending time surrounded by the Territory's incredible landscapes. Whether it was soaking up the fresh air, enjoying good company, or simply taking in the peaceful surroundings, it was the perfect way to celebrate another year around the sun.
Sometimes the best birthday presents aren't wrapped—they're the memories made along the way. But gorgeous Kate made a delicious brownie for our Kate Muldoon for her birthday - she’s a keeper that chick.
Home Projects Never End...
As much as we'd love to spend every day on the water, life has a funny way of reminding us there's always another project waiting at home!
This month, Jayson swapped fishing gear for power tools as he continued renovating the bathroom at their place in Humpty Doo. Like any renovation, it's been a mix of excitement, hard work, and a few unexpected challenges along the way, but it's all coming together nicely.
We'll be honest, we're all looking forward to the day we can officially call it finished!
Keeping Busy Behind the Scenes
When he wasn't busy renovating, Jayson has had plenty on his plate thanks to the team at Anglers Choice.
A massive thank you to Emma for keeping the work coming. It's always great working alongside people who share the same passion for fishing, and we're incredibly grateful for the ongoing support.
Building strong relationships within the fishing community is something we never take for granted, and it's exciting to continue working together on new projects.
An Unexpected Wildlife Encounter
One of the highlights of the month was a visit to the beautiful Berry Springs Nature Reserve—a place that's always worth a stop if you're exploring the Top End.
While cooling off in the crystal-clear water, Kate had the chance to feed one of the Territory's most fascinating creatures—the whip ray!
Unlike the saltwater stingrays many people are familiar with, whip rays are a freshwater species that have only been formally recognised in recent years. They're most commonly found around the Daly River, making it incredibly special to see them up close at Berry Springs.
They're curious, surprisingly gentle, and definitely made for an unforgettable wildlife encounter. It's little experiences like these that remind us just how unique the Northern Territory really is.
Grateful for Another Great Month
Whether we're running charters, working on home projects, collaborating with great people, or simply taking a moment to enjoy everything the Top End has to offer, we're grateful for every opportunity that comes our way.
A huge thank you to everyone who has joined us on the water, supported our business, followed along on social media, or simply cheered us on from afar. We genuinely appreciate every booking, every message, and every conversation.
As we head into August, we're looking forward to more fishing adventures, more Territory exploring, and hopefully welcoming plenty of familiar and new faces aboard.
