Runoff is barra heaven. As the water from the wet season drains into rivers and billabongs, the baitfish get flushed out and the big girls come out to feed. It’s when the NT truly comes alive.
Expect explosive strikes, surface action, and a whole lot of “Did you see that?!” moments. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned fisho, this is the time to chase that once-in-a-lifetime barra. Wait til you see that chrome slap flash in that brackish water - omg.
The Weather (and Why It’s Worth It!)
Let’s be real, it’s hot, humid, and full of bugs & mozzies! But that’s the price you pay for fishing paradise.Early mornings and late arvos are the sweet spots, when the heat dips just enough to make casting bearable and the barra get fired up.
So, pack light long sleeves, drink plenty of water, and embrace the sweat. That first barra hit will make it all worth it!
